Q:
How did you get your nickname?
There is a LOT of Sue's in the stamping world so I added 4stampin after my name.
Then Marjie quickly shortened that to Suefur and now a lot of people know me as
Sue4, which works for me.
Q: Tell us about your family and pets.
Gary and I have been together for eleven and a half years and I am lucky that he
supports my having such an addictive hobby. At times he even comes up with ideas
to spend more money on stamps and supplies. He attends most stamp conventions
with me and patiently follows along as I take in all that I can. I have one very
talented daughter (who currently reps for PWA) and two beautiful granddaughters.
Gary has added five children, eleven grandchildren and two great grandchildren
to our family. As for pets... We have one very spoiled dog (mostly, Gary's
fault!) that is part Yorkshire terrier and part Schnauzer. She is such a smart
dog... she knows just where to find me - yep, in my stamp room!
Q: Tell us about your childhood, where you grew up, and when your creativity
began.
I was born in Seattle (the oldest of three), and have lived in this area all my
life. I live in Lynnwood currently, but my dream is to build a house on my
property in Eastern Washington (Moses Lake) and move there someday. I am already
well acquainted with the stamp store there. My 86 year old mother now has
Alzheimer's, so I will be staying here as long as she needs me.
When I was little I would stay with my grandmother for vacations in the summer.
She was always creating something - oil paintings, a masterpiece garden,
embroidery, you name it - and always had fun projects for us to do. She was a
creative inspiration to our entire family.
Q: To what do you attribute your talents and what inspires you?
I believe my talents came from God with a nudge from my grandmother, and my
mother always teaching us to have confidence in our abilities. A lot of things
inspire me, a stamp, a picture in a stamping magazine or a technique on a Yahoo
group. I enjoy learning new techniques, so the PWA online classes are a favorite
of mine.
Q: How did you find PWA?
Char (from a Yahoo group I was on) invited me to join her and a friend (Suzanne)
at the Salvage Broker in North Seattle. I had a fun time and Suzanne asked me if
I wanted to join her PWA group, but I turned her down. I thought micro beads
would be very messy, like glitter, and I didn't think I had time for another
group. She later invited me to a shoebox party and I was hooked, not only on
beads, but on all the PWA fun, so I joined her Yahoo group. We still joke about
how I turned her down initially, but I am so glad I joined in!
Q: When did you begin stamping?
I retired from the Boeing Airplane Co after 31 years and then discovered rubber
stamping when my daughter put stamps in the scrapbook store she owned. Too bad I
didn't find out about rubber stamps while I had a good paying job!! LOL! Oh
well, it hasn't slowed me down much as now I have more time to shop. Since this
passion started in 2001, I became an instructor, teaching classes at my local
stamp store and PWA. I am the List Mom for WashingtonStampersUnited Yahoo group,
was a design team leader for an online newsletter and now I'm a design team
member for Lasting Impressions With Panache. I'm also an ultimate member of
Technique Junkies where I learn even more techniques.
Q: What is your favorite stamping technique?
I don't know if I have a favorite technique, but I like making my own
backgrounds, working with my H20's is always fun and of course micro beads go on
most of my projects because they make any project look special.
Q: Do you have any other hobbies or interests, besides Stamping?
I like to read, travel and garden. When not stamping, I spend my days with my
family (some days they don't see me much! LOL). One of my favorite places to
travel is Australia and I wish I had known more of the PWA Aussies when I was
there. I guess I'll just have to go back!!! I haven't had much time for reading
or gardening since stamping, so that tells you what I love most! We do still
travel a lot in our RV, but Gary says I plan our vacations around the stamp
stores. Not true LOL, but I do find out where the stamp stores are and we try to
stop along the way.
Q: Will you show us some pictures of your stamp/craft room? |
