Q:
Tell us about your family and pets.
I have been married for almost 33 years to the most supportive DH anyone could
ask for (John), and we have one son (Nick) who just turned 30. My gosh how did
that happen? Nick and his wife Angela have been married for almost 3 years... no
children yet... and I have told them they needn't hurry on my account! I
stamp... DH plays ice hockey... he's a goaltender... it's a nice arrangement!
LOL! We haven't had a pet for about 7-8 years, our last being a Bassett Hound
named Chloe who has been so hard to replace that we have chosen not to. Lately I
have been thinking about a cat (I love Siamese), we had two when we got
married... but not sure that John is really that gung ho. :-) We both work for
the same company, different locations. He has been there a total of 30 years
with a short split in there, and I just celebrated my 41st anniversary with
them. Can you believe that? John handles purchasing and inventory for our closet
division on the north side of Indianapolis, and I do Human Resource stuff in a
small town 20 minutes south of Indy. I truly plan... fingers crossed... to do
the retirement thing in another 3 years or so.

Q: Tell us about your childhood, where you
grew up, and when your creativity began.
I am born and raised in Indianapolis, never have lived anywhere else, can't
imagine that I ever will. While I certainly don't enjoy the winter months, of
course DH relishes them, I do so enjoy the changing seasons. I am the third of
four girls and am so fortunate to have been raised with close family ties which
continue to this day. No brothers, just sisters... even the dog was a female. I
can remember my Dad complaining that if he found an egg in the canary cage he
was leaving! LOL! My older sisters are 68 and 63, then comes me at 58, and my
youngest sister at 49. Both parents are gone, but we girls try to get together
at least every month or so to catch up and visit with each other. We all stamp
though, one sister is more of a scrapbooker while the rest of us are cardmakers.
I had a period of about 10-12 years in the '90s when I was an avid counted
cross-stitcher. As a matter of fact, I still have boxes of stuff in my garage...
waiting for EBay! LOL! I didn't stitch those little pictures... noooo, I had to
go after the huge angels that would take 3-4 months to complete... on tiny
stitch count linen. I loved stitching them! Then, one day, about 4 years ago, my
son mentioned that he had found the girl he would marry. Her name was Angela,
which he thought so appropriate since I collected angels. As we got to know each
other, she mentioned that her aunt was a Stampin' Up! demonstrator, did I want
to have a workshop on rubber stamping? Well, I had no clue what I was about to
get myself into! LOL! Being the good soon-to-be MIL... I agreed and the rest is
history. I think after the second workshop I signed on as a demo... that was
more than three years ago.
Q: To what do you attribute your talents and what inspires you?
There is no question that a lot of my inspiration comes from all the talent I
see shared in the PWA group. Other than the stitching, I had never really
"crafted". I really owe my DIL for awakening such a passion. I honestly had no
clue that I could be creative. Becoming a demonstrator has been the best thing I
have ever done for myself. While I certainly don't make any money at this, I am
having such fun teaching techniques and sharing ideas. My Stamp Club members are
so pampered and spoiled! I always "give away the farm!" LOL! With the advent of
the internet and the explosion of websites and online stores and e-groups, my
interest has now moved out of just cardmaking, and into micro beads (of
course!), collage, altering, 3-D stuff, and the list goes on. Interestingly, I
find it amazing that as much as I love all paper crafting... I still am
intimidated by actual scrapbooking. I can't explain why, so I leave that to
those who can/and do. I enjoy taking ideas that I see on PWA or the hundreds of
other websites I visit daily (:-/) and adapting them to "my way".
Q: How did you find PWA?
You know, I actually can't remember. I do remember it was through a link from
somewhere else one night when I was surfing.
Q: When did you begin stamping?
As I said above, I have been stamping about 4 years now. My sisters and nieces
all stamp. One niece is also an SU! demo, so she and I will have Stamp Camps for
the ladies in the family usually quarterly. It is great fun and everyone has a
great time. I can imagine it is somewhat like a mini-SBP! LOL!
Q: What is your favorite stamping technique?
I really don't have a favorite technique. I love anything to do with paper
crafting! I love the alcohol inks, embossing, distressing, polished stone, and
direct to paper to name just a few. I am recently hooked on the Asian themed
stamping (Thanks Georganne and Shauna), so I am diligently trying to build my
Oriental stamp collection.
Q: Do you have any other hobbies or interests, besides Stamping?
My other obsession would probably have to be reading, although I do spend a HUGE
amount of time on the computer. I am always reading something, usually
mystery/thrillers or suspense. I love Harry Potter and anything by Danielle
Steel too! Having said that, I have just recently discovered blogging and have
one of my very own...
http://askmetostamp.blogspot.com I
look forward to learning more about html and improving the visuals.
Q: Will you show us some pictures of your stamp/craft room?
Oh dear! What a mess! I love seeing everyone else's spaces, so I guess it is
only fair to share mine. Please keep in mind that I just did a MAJOR
reorganization, and everything has not found it's new home yet. :-) I am so
fortunate to be able to have a complete room for my "stuff". My stamp club
members call it my "Crap Room"... and they are not far from wrong! LOL! I have
waaayy too much "stuff"! But I cannot bear to part with a single thing. I
shudder to think of the $ value I might have in there. Yikes! |
