I
am Canadian, living in South-western Manitoba. Manitoba is the province of my
birth. My parents were merchants in a small town. When I was in my teens, we
moved to the province of Ontario where my parents bought a motel and I continued
my education and began my career.
I studied at the University of Toronto and the University of
Manitoba. My formal education and professional career were in Industrial and
Business Management for a large Canadian corporation. After 15 years, I decided
to venture into business on my own and moved back to the province of my birth
after buying a restaurant franchise. I incorporated my business, and operated
two restaurants, and two office service businesses in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
I
met and married Larry. He is an engineer for Hydro. Due to a company transfer,
we relocated to Brandon and lived there until our younger of two sons was ready
to go to college and we transferred back to Winnipeg so our son could study
there. Both our sons are now married, and live in Winnipeg with their
families. I have one granddaughter and two grandsons.

I have always loved to sew and craft and started an online
business in 1992 when I designed "A Little Bag" (www.stamperstouch.com).
It is an anti static product that I have been selling internationally to stores
and to individuals online since that time. I branched into other products sold
rubber stamps for many years but have phased out much of that endeavor to allow
myself to do the things that I love to do…, yes, to play at all my passions
instead of always working with them. I also created flower arrangements and
general and sewn crafts for sale at two stores prior to moving back to Brandon
in 2000. I was an avid crafter and sewer/quilter, but my passion for paper has
placed so many of my past loves on the back burner.
I had the opportunity to study Western European Art History in
College in Thunder Bay, Ontario. I enjoyed oil painting and learned to make
handmade paper at Botanical Papers in Winnipeg. I love to garden and was able
to create herbal and wildflower cards which were sold at an Alpine Shop in
Banff, Canada. It seems like every time I begin to have fun, it turns into a
business. J Not sure why. I enjoy expanding my art knowledge and have been
published a number of times in the past. I have been stamping since 1992,
Scrapbooking since 2000, and started Mixed Media Art in 2001. |
