Fru-Fru is inconsistent in size and thickness. You'll discover this as you go. For MAXIMUM BEAUTY, you want to work with ONE FLAKE AT A TIME.

Pull out a flake with your tweezers and look at it. Can you see that it may be folded in half? UNfold it and flatten the crease with your fingernail. This is how you want it to be when you place it on the hot Black THICK EMBOSSING POWDER. Do you notice that some flakes are thicker than others? There is no guarantee what color it will turn but the really thick flakes 'may' tend to stay an opal and the thinner flakes give the best color burst.

When you are ready to add the Fru-Fru you will assist it's placement with the tweezers but try to NOT get the tweezers in the thick embossing powder or they will not behave very nice for the next dip. If you get embossing powder on the tweezers, let them cool and pick it off with your fingers.

As you place the Fru-Fru, you can place one flake on top of or overlapping another flake. What you DO NOT want to do is get in a hurry and place a 'clump' on the piece because 'clumps' will not color burst, they stay milky. So one flake at a time is your goal for a really pretty result.
Directions:
Step 1

Lay your non-stick craft sheet on the electric griddle. Turn on your electric griddle to 350 degrees. Cover the Mini-Matt piece with black (or dark) embossing INK. This is easiest to achieve by laying the Mini-Matt ON the ink pad; press a few times, check it for coverage. Use your tweezers to dip the inked Mini-Matt into the BLACK thick embossing powder for overall coverage. Lay the Mini-Matt on the hot craft sheet, granule-side-UP.

Wait. The black thick embossing powder needs to melt. When it is shiny, it has melted. Do not turn up the griddle; you need to be a little patient. You can speed it up with a LOW blowing heat tool but not right away; give it time to melt on it's own, first. If using a power-blast type heat tool, you need to keep it far from the THICK EMBOSSING POWDER granules or you'll just blow them off.

Step 2

Once the Black THICK EMBOSSING POWDER has melted, you will want to spoon on MORE Black THICK EMBOSSING POWDER. Be generous but not ridiculously so. You DO want a good build up of the Black. The THICK EMBOSSING POWDER will likely melt off the sides of the Mini-Matt a little bit but you don't want a flowing river of it, either.
This second layer of Black THICK EMBOSSING POWDER will take a little longer to melt and this is the place where I like to use a heat tool to speed it along, after it gets a head start on melting on it's own from the griddle heat. Remember, even with the LOW-blowing heat tool, to hold it far back from the Mini-Matt piece at first so you don't blow the THICK EMBOSSING POWDER off.

Note: the larger the Mini-Matt, the longer it takes for all the THICK EMBOSSING POWDER to melt.  Smaller pieces will melt very quickly.

Step 3

Now you have 2 happy layers of BLACK THICK EMBOSSING POWDER and it's TIME FOR FRU-FRU!! Remember to pick your flakes and work with ONE at a time for maximum beauty and color burst effect! Keep your tweezers out of the hot glaze, if possible. Clean tweezers immediately (when cooled). Place ALL the Fru-Fru FIRST, then add the gold or silver micro beads and any other desired embellishment.

Step 4

With all Fru-Fru and embellishments placed, it's time to add the CLEAR THICK EMBOSSING POWDER.
Spoon on the CLEAR THICK EMBOSSING POWDER, just as you did with the second layer of Black. Let it melt on it's own a bit, then speed up with heat tool, if desired.
Add a second layer of CLEAR THICK EMBOSSING POWDER. Let this second layer of clear melt completely, speeding up if desired.

Use your tweezers to nudge and 'scoot' your Mini-Matt across the non-stick sheet a little ways. The excess THICK EMBOSSING POWDER is going to fall away from the Mini-Matt.

Removing your piece: using two hands so you keep the Mini-Matt flat and steady, grab a corner of the craft sheet and slide it to the edge of the griddle so it hangs off a bit, making it cooler and getting a good

hold on the edge of the sheet. You should also be able to grab another corner on the other side, lifting it from the griddle. Be careful, don't burn yourself.
Move the hot sheet to a flat surface. Your Mini-Matt piece will cool quite quickly. A minute should be all it takes. Nudge the edge of the Mini-Matt with your finger until it pops free from the sheet. Put the craft sheet back on the griddle to do the edge finishing in step 5, coming up.

Step4A

Trim the Excess Fru-Fru off of the sides.

Step 5

Hold your cooled Mini-Matt piece with an edge of it perpendicular to the hot craft sheet on the griddle. This will heat and melt the edge to make it very smooth. Turn the piece and hold another edge, etc. If working with an oval Mini-Matt, this is easily accomplished by rocking the piece back and forth, slowly. Let the piece cool and use a Krylon Paint Pen to edge, if desired. Attach a pin backing or magnet to the back. Don’t forget to SIGN your art!!
