Beth Ullman

An Interview with Beth Ullman, Artist of the Week

Q: Tell us about your family and pets.
My husband Charlie and I have been married 39 1/2 years.  We have 2 children, Joey (38) married to Libby, Lisa (36) married to Lou and who has also provided me with 3 grandchildren who are the loves of my life, first we have Brittany who will be 17 shortly then there is Hannah 6 and lastly Lucien who is 4 and quite a character.

We have one pet, Bugsy, who we sort of adopted from my daughter several years ago.

Q: Tell us about your childhood, where you grew up, and when your creativity began.
I was born in a Navy hospital in Mare's Island, CA almost 57 years ago.  My parents moved back to MD when I was 6 month's old, where they were both born and raised.  When I was 10 I moved to FL with my mom, then at 15 lived in NY with my dad, and at 16 moved back to MD with my grandparents and stayed until 2004 when I moved to VA after retiring from the postal service. I love the peace and tranquility down here, we live on 53 acres which I have included a picture of hubby in I during our only snow this past winter that we took while walking in the woods.

I started crafting at about 12 years old when I learned to knit and crochet. I taught myself to read the patterns and learn the other stitches and I enjoy lots of different crafts, as you can see from my pictures.

Q: To what do you attribute your talents and what inspires you?
Of course without God I would have no talents so that is where the talent begins and I am inspired by many things and people.  The people in the groups I belong to really inspire me I am lucky enough to belong to some groups with some awesome talent.

Q: How did you find PWA?
A girlfriend in another group sent me to PWA.  She also sent me packets of beads she had mixed and purchased from Suzanne.  I had no idea what to do with them at the time, but thanks to all in this group I sure do now and I love working with the beads

Q: When did you begin stamping?
I have only been stamping for a year or so.  With the help of this group and technique junkies I am learning a lot.

Q: What is your favorite stamping technique?
I guess my favorite technique is what ever I am working on at the time. My favorite art product to use is alcohol inks.  I just love those things.

Q: Do you have any other hobbies or interests, besides Stamping?

Yes, I have quite a few hobbies and interests.  I scrapbook, read, love a good movie, enjoy almost any type of music, knit, crochet,  and gardening.

Q: Will you show us some pictures of your stamp/craft room?
Yes, I will be happy to show my craft room (Michele you forced me to finally get it organized this week).  I am in the basement and I have the area that is not finished off as you can see, but I have lots of room to play. My stamps are in a old gun cabinet hubby remodeled for me.  He put shelves in and then made graduated shelves to stack them on. He also hung the cabinets on the walls.  He got them out of a house he was working on remodeling.
